The humorous tone is set from the start in this gothic-themed picture book/encyclopaedia of the Floods, a family of witches and wizards. It is an excellent companion to the Floods series of which book No 12, Bewitched, has just been released.
The Floods are now safely ensconced in Castle Twilight as the supreme rulers of Transylvania Waters. In this book they share their immense wisdom, magic, secrets and history. The reader is exposed to Winchflat’s Wonderful World of Inventions, recipes from Betty’s restaurant and stories about the Floods’ obscure relatives. For fans of the Floods series and for those wanting to get an insight into Flood mania, this book will make readers giggle, guffaw, and laugh for hours.
Our school has had Colin Thompson as an author in residence three times and students love his humour and in particular his amazing illustrations. Students love to explore earlier picture books which contain hidden “Café Max” and a small dog named Max.
